JOLIET, Ill. – The University of St. Francis women’s volleyball team unveiled its updated 2020 season schedule and the abbreviated slate features exclusively Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matches.

“I’m excited to get started with this year’s team,” said USF women’s volleyball head coach Cara Currier, who will begin her 19th year at USF this season and presently ranks among the top 20 active NAIA coaches in career victories (452 wins).  “I know this is not the ideal situation, but we are all crossing our fingers for the opportunity to play at all in these times.”

USF’s 18-match regular-season schedule consists of nine contests at home and nine more on the road.  The Saints will play eight matches apiece in February and March along with one each in January and April.

USF is scheduled to begin the 2020 campaign in the 2021 new year as the Saints open the season on January 28 hosting Indiana South Bend at the Sullivan Center in Joliet.

The Saints will begin February action with road matches at Trinity International on Feb. 2 and then travel to Olivet Nazarene for a Feb. 4 encounter.  USF returns home Feb. 9 taking on Calumet St. Joseph before wrapping up the brief homestand Feb. 11 versus Roosevelt.  A Feb. 16 tilt against conference rival Saint Xavier follows proceeded by a Feb. 18 home match with Indiana Northwest.  The Saints close out the month visiting Judson on Feb. 22 before returning home Feb. 27 to face Trinity Christian, the 2019 CCAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions, in a matinee.

A pair of home matches versus Cardinal Stritch (March 2) and Governors State (March 9) kicks off play in March.  USF hits the road for its next three outings, starting March 16 with an afternoon match at league newcomer Lincoln (Ill.) College and then a March 18 contest at St. Ambrose.  The Saints wrap up the road swing March 23 at Indiana Northwest.  Two days later (March 25), USF plays host to Judson before venturing back on the road to square off against Trinity Christian on March 27 and traveling to Cardinal Stritch March 30 for its final regular-season road appearance.

The Saints are slated to conclude their regular season on April 1 at home with Lincoln College providing the opposition.

The CCAC Tournament will start April 6 with quarterfinal-round matches on campus sites and the tourney semifinals takes place April 8.  The championship match is penciled for April 10 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The 2020 season will mark the 40th year of women’s volleyball at USF dating back to the 1981 season.  The Saints have registered 32 winning seasons during the time and have achieved at least 30 wins per season 16 times, which included a program-record 53 victories (53-6 overall) in 1989.

USF posted a 21-14 overall record for the 2019 season, which included a 12-6 CCAC ledger.  The Saints also qualified for the CCAC Postseason Tournament.
