CHICAGO – The University of St. Francis claimed third place in the final 2019-20 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Sports Cup Standings, which were released this Tuesday by the conference.
USF registered 76 total points in the final CCAC Sports Cup Standings for the 2019-20 athletics season.
The CCAC All-Sports Cup is awarded annually to the institution that earns the most points from a total of 12 sports out of the 18 sponsored by the conference (men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, baseball and softball). In 2019-20, however, the conference took into account only the nine fall and winter sports for the scoring totals after spring sports were canceled due to the pandemic.
The Saints trailed only Olivet Nazarene, which captured the CCAC Sports Cup for the 11th consecutive season, and Saint Xavier in the final CCAC Standings. USF and Olivet Nazarene earned the distinction of being the only conference schools to win multiple regular-season championship titles. The Saints won both the women’s cross country and women’s indoor track & field league championship crowns.
Points are awarded based on conference finish in each sport. An additional point is awarded to any school that claims a conference tournament title.
