ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team was edged by visiting Illinois Springfield on Wednesday night in 11 innings, 9-6.
A pair of Triton runs in the ninth helped force the extra innings. Junior Andrew Hayden’s RBI single got UMSL within 6-5, while redshirt junior Derrick Freeman, who reached on a walk, scampered home on a wild pitch to tie it.
UIS then scored three runs in the 11th on just one hit, while being aided by a pair of Triton errors.
