Lewis women win Benedictine Relays with 143 points

ROMEOVILLE – Lewis’ women’s track and field team won its third consecutive meet on Saturday winning the Benedictine Relays with a team score of 143 points. The Flyers won eight events at the two-day competition.

Ashleigh Macleod (Mishawaka, IN/Penn) won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.41 winning the race by over five seconds.

Kassady Learn (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) won the 1,500 meter run crossing the line in a time of 4:49.85.

Lewis’ 4×100 meter relay team of Cierra Pulliam (Plainfield, Ill./Romeoville), Carrie Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake HS), Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) and Joelle Ataessien (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young HS) won the race with a time of 46.89 seconds.

Pulliam won the long jump with a leap of 5.92 meters while Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North)was third with a jump of 5.39 meters. Alecea Cardillo and Abbey Galusha (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville, HS) finished seventh and eighth respectively in the event with jumps of 4.95 meters and 4.88 meters.

Laudizio claimed the top spot in the triple jump with a jump of 11.72 meters while Cardillo was sixth with a leap of 10.85 meters.

Lane Kadlec (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) set a school record in the shot put with a heave of 14.97 meters and Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took seventh in the event with a toss of 11.99 meters.

Kadlec also won the discus with a throw of 42.90 meters and Alyssa Betlejeski finished fifth in the event with a throw of 38.23 meters.

Kianna Clark (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South)finished in a tie for second in the hammer throw with a heave of 52.16 meters.

Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West)took fifth in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.20 meters.

Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) and Azana Clark-Jordan (Plano, Ill./Whitney Young HS )finished third and fourth respectively in the 400 meter hurdles with times of 1:11.01 and 1:11.75.

Ataessien and Clark-Jordan finished back-to-back in the 100 meter hurdles. Ataessien crossed the line at 15.28 seconds while Clark-Jordan finished at 15.35 seconds.

Macleod also took sixth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 59.47 seconds while Heather Batterham ()finished seventh at 59.83 seconds.

Teresa Zaragueta (Spain) and Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) took fourth and eighth in the 200 meter dash with times of 25.83 seconds and 26.56 seconds respectively.

Hoffman, Johnson and Zaragueta finished in the top eight in the 100 meter dash. Hoffman finished second in a time of 12.52 seconds. Johnson was fifth at 12.75 seconds and Zaragueta came in eighth at 12.93 seconds.

The Flyers head to California next week to take part in the Mt. Sac Relays next Thursday-Saturday and the Long Beach Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
