ROMEOVILLE – The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) announced that Lewis University head men’s basketball coach Scott Trost has been selected as the IBCA NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
This marks the 10th time that Trost has been named IBCA Coach of the Year, as he earned the Division III honor four times as the head coach of Illinois Wesleyan from 2003-2006 and the Division II award five times as Lewis’ head coach in 2008, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2019.
Trost guided Lewis to a 14-10, 11-9 record in 2020-21, its second GLVC Tournament title in the last five years and its second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last three seasons.
“A Coach of the Year Award” is a staff and program award,” Trost said. “We had a great group of young men that bought in to what we were teaching.
“I would like to thank my staff which includes Nick Rocco and Joffery Brown, our support staff which includes our athletic trainers, especially Jennifer Janczak, Becky Eggers, Brandon Gonzales and Jennifer Meyer, our SID Luke Rinne, Capel Henshaw our Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and our administration,” Trost continued. “Without their dedication and sacrifice, none of this would be possible.”
