ROMEOVILLE – Lewis men’s volleyball head coach Dan Friend announced on Friday that he’s completed his 2021 recruiting class with the signing of Cooper Armstrong. Armstrong joins Liam Buck, Evan Giorgi, Connor Keating, Landon Krause, Keaton Long and Tyler Simpson.
“Cooper is a great addition for us,” Friend said. “He’s an all-around skilled player who will provide depth and competitiveness at the setting position. I’m excited to work with him and see his impact as a FLYER.”
Armstrong, a 6-5, 200 pound setter, from Ventura, Calif., was named to the Tri-Valley League All-Conference team after helping lead the Foothill Technology Dragons to a 9-1 league record and a league championship in 2019. This past season he was averaging 7.47 assists per set with an attack percentage of .422 and 20 service aces when the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He played club volleyball for the Santa Monica Beach Club-Ventura County for five seasons.
Lewis finished the season with a record of 15-4, was 6-1 in MIVA play and riding an eight match winning streak when the 2020 was canceled.
