ROMEOVILLE – Former Lewis University All-American Michael Leet of the Lewis men’s track and field and cross country teams looks to qualify for this year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan as he’ll compete in the upcoming United State Olympic Trials.
Leet will compete in the steeplechase at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials which will be held June 18-27 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The preliminary race for the steeplechase will take place on Monday (June 21) at 6:29 p.m. (CDT). There will be two heats in the race with 12 runners advancing to the finals. The top four place finishers in each heat will automatically advance to the finals followed by the next four fastest times regardless of heats. Should he advance, the finals will be held Friday (June 25) at 6:42 p.m. (CDT).
The top three finishers in each event provided they have met the 2020 Olympic Games qualifying standards will qualify for the Olympic team.
The USATF Olympic Trials will be televised by NBC Sports Network and NBC and will be live streamed at nbcsports.com. Monday’s coverage begins on NBC Sports Network at 6 p.m. (CT) and then will switch over to NBC a 7 p.m. (CT).
