CARMEL, Ind. – Lewis’ men’s cross country team opened its 2020 with an impressive performance to win the UIndy Triangular on Friday afternoon in Carmel, Ind. The Flyers finished the race with 34 points which was seven points ahead of defending GLVC Champion Southern Indiana.
Lewis had the top two finishers in the race in Anthony Farmer (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) and Dustin MacUiba. Farmer, competing in his first collegiate race, crossed the line first at 18:41.4. MacUiba, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame, finished second with a time of 18:49.6.
Daniel Arimi (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) finished sixth in a time of 19:07.6, Joshua Segura was 12th with a time of 19:33.2, Patrick Hennessey (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger) and AJ Pulido (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) finished 13th and 14th with times of 19:38.5 and 19:39.4 respectively.
Casey Quintana (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) rounded out the scoring for the Flyers with a 17th place finish crossing the line at 19:43.7.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 10) as they head to Springfield, Ill., for the GLVC East Division race which will be hosted by Illinois Springfield at 3:45 p.m.
